ANIMA MUNDI

Anima mundi is a Latin phrase meaning “the soul of the world”, contemplated by philosophers, as “the soul of nature”; the animating (anima) force within nature. The world soul is, according to several systems of thought, an intrinsic connection between all living things on the planet, which relates to our world in much the same way as the soul is connected to the human body.

Anima Mundi Apothecary is composed of organic, wildcrafted, and ethically grown botanicals. They aim to continuously source pristine, unadultured and wholesome medicines for mind body and soul wellness. Anima Mundi is devoted to making vibrant and medicinally potent remedies that honour the principles of harmony and ancient formulation that have years of anecdotal and traditional evidence.

Meet the Founder

Adriana Ayales founded Anima Mundi as a way of bringing ancient medicines into the modern world. She was born and raised Costa Rica and devoted her studies to shamanic style healing, hands on energy work and botanical studies. She studied both Central and South American tribal style herbalism with plant medicine teachers in Costa Rica, the Amazon and California. She then went on to study classic Western and European herbalism. She trained as a clinical herbalist at different herbal schools, and continued on to cultivate a private practice in Berkeley CA and NYC. When she started her herbal apothecary in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, she brought with her all the knowledge gathered. Fresh, vivid therapeutic herbs are obtained by Anima Mundi Apothecary directly from Central and South American natives. Her work promotes the preservation of indigenous lands, true fair trade principles, sustainability, and working with small local companies.
